Chef Carrie Nahabedian of Naha Restaurant is heading out to Miami this morning to represent Chicago in the annual Taste of the NFL event to fight hunger.  The Taste of the NFL takes place on the eve of Super Bowl XLIV with chefs from every city with an NFL team.

This is Nahabedian’s first time at the Taste event. “Obviously, we represent Chicago and the Bears, and we are big sports fans, so we are very excited. The Super Bowl host city gets 30 percent and the remaining NFL cities split the rest.”   She continued, “Rick Bayless (of Frontera Grill) was the first chef and Susan and Drew Goss (of West Town Tavern) have done it for the past 18 or so years,” Nahabedian said. “ They recommended us this year and we accepted. Generally the chef and restaurant commits to it for as long as they like and then pass it on.”

Her team, which includes Shaun Gayle from the storied 1985 Bears team. is planning on creating a Middle Eastern vegetarian salad with chickpeas, cracked wheat, lentils, feta cheese, cucumbers, kalamata olives, mint, oregano, parsley, red onions and tomatoes.
